Walking for the health of it.

Eat for the health of it.

Is there a special way to walk? I don't really think so. Some people walk carrying some weights, I can't see why or why not. Some walk really fast, but why hurry? Unless your training for the olympics or some type of race. I think correct posture might be a little more important, a nice stride and a little arm swing. Use a long, smooth and even stride. It is good to warm up a bit before going for the walk but not totally necessary unless you are into intensive walking. I don't warm up before I go shopping and that is a lot of walking.

Of course, if you are an intense walker then I would go through some stretching and get the achilles tendon and the calf, quadriceps and the ham strings all warmed up. If you are getting into a walking program and you are over 45, you may want to visit your doctor first to be on the safe side.

Keep in mind that you are not in any hurry, you have the rest of your life to do this. You don't need to start out with a timer, just see how far you can go and add a little each time. When you can walk a mile in 20 minutes, your on your way. Just remember if you just want to walk a casual walk it really doesn't matter how far you go, only remember, you have to come back.

The proper technique is not that important, the only important thing is that you get out there and walk. The key is to stay active. Choose a good walking shoe, try to get someone to walk with you, the time flies by when you are with someone. It takes willpower, but once you get in the habit, it will just be a part of your life.

It helps if you learn to eat healthy too. If you are interested in an all natural cookbook please try:

Laughter is healthy: Pecans in the cemetery:

On the outskirts of a small town, there was a cemetery and while riding they're bikes one day, two small boys decided to walk in the cemetery and they found a large pecan tree that had shed a lot of it's pecans and several had rolled down the slight hill and stopped near the fence. The boys were picking them up and they sat beside a bush and began sharing them, "One for you and one for me."

Another boy came riding by on his bike and heard someone talking, "One for you and one for me." He just knew what it was. He jumped on his bike and headed for town when he ran into an old man walking with a cane, the boy told him that he heard the Lord and Satan dividing up the souls. After awhile he convinced the old man to come to the cemetery with him.

Standing by the fence they could still hear, "One for you and one for me. One for you and one for me."

The old man whispered, "I guess you were right, let's see if we can see the Lord."

Peering through the fence, yet still unable to see anything, the boy and the old man gripped and pulled into the fence trying to get a glimpse of the Lord.

At last they heard, "One for you and one for me. That's all, now let's go get those nuts by the fence and we'll be done."
They say the old man made it back into town way ahead of the kid on the bike.
