Does salt cause high blood preasure?

Eat for the health of it.

I have heard people for years saying,"Don't eat salt, it's bad for you." You really need salt in your body. When you take a diuretic to get rid of water retension it also takes out potassium and vital minerals. I do not want to say to quit taking your diuretics but if they are making things worse you should try something else. If you do have hypertension, you have to listen to your doctor but ask him if you can try DASH, it may be a lot safer than the drugs. You can also use herbal diuretics, which do not flush out potassium and other vital minerals.

Something that I have found out over the years, is that using sea salt or Hymalayin salt, they do not cause water retension, because they do not have the non-caking chemical in them that causes all the trouble. I'm not telling you to eat salt if your doctor takes it away from you but if you do use salt at all, use sea salt or Hymalayin salt. You can get these at the health food store. Also you may want to try Omega-3 fish oil.

Every time I go to the doctor, for some reason my blood preasure shoots right up there. I try to explain it to them that I have white coat syndrome. The new doctor I have for my neck problem said I had to go on some medication, he didn't agree with the white coat syndrome and he wanted me to return in a month and he would check me again and I had to bring my blood preassure cuff with me and I kept track of my preasure. He gave me a trial supply and I decided to use them but I cut them in half because I was afraid to take a whole one. I was on them only a few days and I felt weak and dizzy and it got worse, so I quit taking them. When I showed up at his office with my proof and told him what happened he agreed with me that I had white coat syndrome.

I couldn't figure why I would have high anything if I eat all natural and I try to keep my weight down but I am a bit overweight and I am working on that. The doctor suggested the low carb diet to me and I really want to do that again, because it does work. If you ever went on the low carb diet, you will notice it is pretty much all natural too.

What to do for hemorrhoids

Eat for the health of it.

No one wants to talk about hemorrhoids but when you have them you can't help but think about them, then you will be willing to ask for help or read until you find something that really works.

If they are really sore, I have used peroxide on them, I have saturated gauze with colloidal silver and I have used the over the counter hemorrhoid ointment and this works too. I have read about using a 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg in a glass of warm lemon water and drink twice a day. And to stop the bleeding, mix a few ounces cranberry juice and pomegranate juice and drink between meals.

Another procedure you can try is elderberry root, found at the healthfood store. Make a paste with warm water and the elderberry root and spread the paste on a piece of gauze and place on the hemorrhoids and keep it there for awhile twice a day.

You should add fiber to your diet. I take omega-3 fish oil, and eat fresh fruits and vegetables. You can do a sitz bath with warm water and a cup of witch hazel. You can also buy witch hazel gel from the health food store. Place some on a gauze and tuck it up there for a while.

One of the reasons that people get constipated is from taking certain drugs. I learned this when I had surgery a couple months ago. I was on Oxycodone and I nearly needed blasting powder.

If all of these helpful hints fail, you better get medical help.

If you learn to eat all natural foods, I am sure this will help. Now and then if you eat something that is not as easily digested, you can get bound up. I have trouble with chocolate and I really like chocolate so I have to be careful not to eat too much or remember to take at least three fishoil caps a day and drink plenty of water.

Laughter is healthy:

An old couple,Sally and Andy, celebrating their 60th. wedding anniversary decided to visit the old school where they had met and were childhood sweethearts. They walked around the school reminiscing about the good old days. As they were walking back to their house they came accross a bag of money that apparently fell from an armored car. Andy said, "We have to give this money back." Sally said,"Finders, keepers."

When they got home they counted the money and there was $50,000 in the bag. Again, Andy said, " We have to give the money back."

Sally decided to take the money and hide it in the attic.

The next day the police went into the neighborhood and went door to door asking if anyone had found a bag with money in it.

Sally said, "NO"

Andy felt quilty and said,"She's lying, she hid it in the attic."

Sally said, "Don't believe him, he is senile."

The officer turned to Andy and said, "Tell us your story from the beginning."

Ande said,"Well, when Sally and I were walking home from school yesterday...

The officers looked at each other and said, "Let's get out of here."

Sour stomach relief

Eat for the health of it.

If you are bothered with a burning in your stomach, I know it's awful, (been there, done that)I started out taking precription Zantac and Tagament. I didn't like taking the drugs all the time so I decided to try Tums. A lot cheaper but then I was hearing that you shouldn't use them a lot but they were on my grocery list regularly.

A friend wanted me to try papaya and mix it with a little unbleached sugar and I also bought the juice in the healthfood store. I also tried the aloe vera, I mixed it with a little orange juice.I also ate a lot of licorice. These worked too. Eating early is a good idea too.

These did work for me but what I like using the best is radishes with my meals and I also drink apple cider vinegar. You can mix it with water or as I use it is with my health drink in my all natural cookbook, it is equal parts of all natural apple juice, all natural white grape juice, (I use the 64 ounce bottle of each and a 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar, mix, and drink a half glass after your meal or more if you want to. It won't hurt you and it may even lower your cholesterol, I think that is what lowered mine and it stays down. I really like it and I drink it all the time.

Like I said the recipe is in my cookbook: GRANDMA'S BACK TO BASICS ALL NATURAL MORE THAN JUST A COOKBOOK by Teresa Thompson ISBN#0-8059-6286-7 It is available at: www.dorrancepublishing.com or at: 1-800-788-7654 or at: Amazonbooks.com

The bartender opens the door and takes a look and tells him, "You idiot, you're sitting on the mop bucket."

before aspirin, was the willow

Eat for the health of it.

Before the aspirin was introduced for pain, the medicine man dispensed the bark of the white willow tree which contained salicin. Salicin is also an ingredient in aspirin. The ingredient SALICIN in the white willow tree bark is better because it does not upset the stomach like so in aspirin. You can find white willow tea or the liquid extract at the health food store. Never use white willow with alcohol.

Chamomile tea is relaxing and can calm headaches and quesainess.

Caffeine constricts blood vessels. If you drink caffeinated beverages regularly your blood vessels can overdilate when the caffeine wears off.

Other problems with caffeinated beverages is that it can cause lumps in your breasts. I had three lumps removed from my breasts and I was told not to drink caffeine in anything.

Stinging nettle tea is good for headaches; triggered by allergies that makes the sinuses swell and can cause pain. Use one heaping teaspoon of the stinging nettle (found in the health food store.)in a cup of boiling water, strain and drink.

Don't forget to eat healthy: You can do that by following recipes in my all natural cookbook, GRANDMA'S BACK TO BASICS ALL NATURAL MORE THAN JUST A COOKBOOK by Teresa Thompson ISBN# 0-8059-6286-7 Available at: www.dorrancepublishing.com or call at: 1-800-788-7654 Or at: Amazonbooks.com

I also highly recommend a very good novel: 'Under Obligation' 1-58736-601-0 Available at: www.wheatmark.com or at: Abebooks.com or at: Amazonbooks.com This is truly a very interesting book to read. It will keep you interested to the very end.

Laughter is healthy: How do you pick your kids names?

A psychiatrist, conducting a group therapy session of 4 young mothers and their small children. He called attention by saying,"You all have obsessions."

To the first mother he said," I can tell that you are obsessed with eating, you even named your first child CANDY."

To the second mother he said, "I know you are obsessed with money. You have even named your child PENNY."

To the third mother he said, "You are obsessed with alcohol- you named your child BRANDY."

At this point the fourth mother took her son by the hand and said, "Come on Dick, this guy doesn't know what he is talking about. Let's pick up PETER and WILLY at school."

Headches are no fun

Eat for the health of it.

Are you bothered with headaches? Truthfully, I am not, but I have a friend that has them all the time. She takes so many pills, I think she really depends on them now. Some people get headaches when they are stressed, some maybe just riding in a car, especially in the mountains. Taking feverfew that contains parthenolides, the constituant that is in feverfew, helps. It appears to affect serotonin levels. Follow the directions on the label.

Just for the record, I am wondering if feverfew would also help a person with Bipolar dissorder. I know that Bipolar dissorder has something to do with low levels of serotonin. I will have to check this out. I know someone with bipolar dissorder.

Another suggestion for headaches is peppermint. Take peppermint oil and an equal amount of rubbing alcohol, mix together, use only one or two drops on your forehead and temples, wait for 15 minutes then massage the area for three minutes. Repeat three times a day.

If you take the time to figure it all out, you may discover that your main problem is eating foods with additives like MSG,HFCS, Aspartame, Splenda, Chlorine and other food additives, these are all chemicals and your body does not want them in there.

You may have to keep a record of what you eat and when you get these headaches. Unfortunately some people are allergic to natural foods too, like wheat, peanuts, eggs and soy products. But most of the time the allergies are related to chemicals that are added to food.

You need to call your doctor if you have headaches a lot, or if you have severe headaches or vomiting, stiffness, double vision or any sudden severe pain.

Eat all natural as much as you can. Natural foods are more satisfying and nutritious.

Recipe for a hangover

Eat for the health of it.

This recipe was recommended for a hangover and they say it works. Just take a cup of hot water and add some honey to it; stir and drink it. Honey is high in fructose and sugar speeds the body's metabolism. Also dates are high in fructose. High in fructose means it is high in sugar not (high fructose corn syrup)(the bad stuff).

Ginko seeds are another way to speed the body's metabolism of alchohol. Maybe try a bloody Mary, that's tomato juice, vodka and Tabasko sause, Worcestershire sauce and a bit of red pepper. Also try some black strong coffee or a bag of ice or frozen peas on your head. It's important to eat, before and after. Try dandalion drops from the health food store, 30 to 60 drops three times a day.

Last night as we sat watching TV, I told my children I did not want to live in a vegatative state, depending on a machine and fluid from a bottle. If that ever happens just pull the plug.

Are you losing your hair?

Eat for the health of it.

If you have a thick head of hair, you are so lucky. Although you could start losing it like a lot of other people. You could use products on the market but they may only cling to your hair, making it look thicker. Why waste your money? Try massaging your locks and then using your finger tips, tap your head all over for a few minutes now and then to wake up those hair follicles. Tap your scalp until it gets a little rosey indicating blood coming to the surface. You may have to get someone else to check it, I know I can't see on my head. I was worried a bit about my hair thinning because I had stopped using a multi vitamin and herb supplement but because of the herbs in it and I had to have surgery, I quit using it. I am going to start using it again now that I am on the mend and I am not taking all those drugs they want you to take. I am still going to try this massage using safflower oil. (massage for 20 minutes.)

Some helpful hints: You can use sage tea bags from the health food store. Make a tea with 2 tea bags in a cup of hot water, let it cool then poor on your hair after shampooing it. Rinse after five minutes. It is best to use it every day but at least 3 times a week. Take a good multi-vitamin, omega-3, eat cold water fish.

Shampoo with a product that contains polysorbate ( this will cut through the oiliness in your hair and will remove the buildup of hair sprays etc.)I will always remind you to eat all natural.

I had an experience today that really upset me because I am very allergic to High Fructose Corn Syrup; I ordered coffee at this restaurant and I asked for honey as I usually do because they don't have unbleached sugar and I am allergic to the bleaching agent in white sugar. The waitress brought a bottle (the little honey bear bottle) and I used it and then after drinking two cups of coffee, I picked up the little bear and read the ingredients and I was shocked, it had High Fructose Corn Syrup in it.

That should never happen because they are misrepresenting what is in the little bear bottle. I had never seen that before. I looked at the honey bear and I assumed it had honey in it. I'll live but they don't know what happens to me when I eat that poison.

Chew your food or cause more gas

Eat for the health of it.

We are all in a hurry so we have to eat fast and therefore your food doesn't get chewed up enough and that moves the food quickly into your colon, missing out on the digestive enzymes, this can cause gas buildup, then your bloated like a balloon. In most cases, you will end up with a great amount of gas that can cause upset stomach or a burning sensation.

A lot of people will pop those antacids and I was also guilty of that. They were a weekly staple on my grocery list. When I started to read that these antacids really were not good for you to eat all the time I started checking around and I found out that radishes have a lot of enzymes and enzymes are important for digestion and I started eating radishes and I still eat them and I don't use antacids at all. Another thing that really works for me is my vinegar drink,(Health drink) in my cookbook.

Dr. Oz had a guest on his show recently and she said that vinegar would help with burning in the stomach. I don't know what kind she was using but they told her that it doesn't work, but let me tell you I have used it whenever I get that burning in my stomach and it goes away. I have done it time after time and I also try to eat radishes with my meals. If I run out of radishes all I do is drink a small glass of my health drink and it's gone. I make my drink using apple cider vinegar, she may have used white vinegar.

The recipe is in my all natural cookbook, GRANDMA'S BACK TO BASICS ALL NATURAL MORE THAN JUST A COOKBOOK ISBN#0-8059-6286-7 by Teresa Thompson - Available at: www.dorrancepublishing.com - by phone 1-800-788-7654 - Also available at: Amazonbooks.com

The boy answered that his mom went to town with his father.

The boy then asked the rancher,"Is there anything I can help you with? I know where the tools are if you need to use them. Or can I take a message?"

The rancher answered seriously,"I want to talk to your dad about your brother, Howard, about getting my daughter pregnant."

The boy thought a moment and said," You will have to talk to dad about that. If it helps you any, I know he charges $500.00 for the bull and $50.00 for the bore hog, but I don't know what he charges for Howard."

Annoying insects

Eat for the health of it.

I love it outside, I love the sunshine too and so do the insects and they think that God gave them this earth and we don't belong here. They make themselves right at home at the family picnics too. If you get bit, the sooner you take care of it the better it will be.

Now I have never had a chance to try this but I was told to carry a copper penny with me outside and if you get stung by a bee or wasp you should put the penny on the spot and it will keep it from swelling. Hey, it's worth the try. I try to remember to carry the penny but more than likely, if I get stung, it will be the day I forget to put the penny in my pocket. You can try peppermint oil too. Another is vitamin C, take it internally or crush the tablet and make a paste with a little water and place on the bite. You can also make a paste from baking soda and a little water, and place it on the bite. Vinegar or lemon juice or meat tenderizer will also do the job.

If you are really allergic to insect bites you better stay inside or carry an epi pen.

An ounce of prevention

Eat for the health of it.

Did you ever have swimmers ear or a plain old earache from swimming in the lake or a farm pond, or other untreated swimming hole? The best thing to do is prepare yourself for this occasion by taking a mixture of 2 drops of vinegar and 2 drops of rubbing alcohol and when you get finished swimming place the drops in your ears, this should prevent infection.

If you do get ear infections often, ask your pharmacist to mix up a batch of 3 percent boric acid and 70 percent alcohol solution. The boric acid will acidify the ear canal, keeping away any bacteria or fungal invaders and the alcohol will keep it dry. Squeeze a few drops in the ears every day.

If you have trouble with your ears popping or becoming painful while flying; I usually chew gum but when you land and you still have the pain, I have heard that warming an onion or a potato in the microwave or in water on the stove, then place it in a clean sock or cloth and tie a string around it and hold it to your sore ear. (Make sure it isn't too hot on the skin).

I recall as a child my mother used sweet oil in our ears. We never went to the doctor unless we were half dead or bleeding profusely. You can buy sweet oil or make your own by mixing equal parts of olive oil with other oils like lavender. You could check the health food store in your area.

I had an earache from hell this past fall and I went to my doctor and she prescribed a Z-PAC and it helped for awhile but my sinuses and ears were plugged for a long time until a friend told me about a NETI POT, that is the answer to sinus infections, believe me. I found this NETI POT at the health food store and I filled it with warm water and a pinch of sea salt, and while standing over the sink I poured it in one nostril and saying K-K-K, it came out the other nostril, then repeat on the other side. Believe me it really works. You may have to do this several times. I did it every day for a few weeks and then I do it now and then for assurance. I never want to have another sinus infection like I had.

Another thing to try is dropping some eucalyptus oil (ten drops) in some boiling water and breathing it in. (Don't get too close or you will get burned from the steam.)You may want to drape a towel over your head to help capture the steam.

Another thing you can try is pressing a globe of garlic and mix it with olive oil and let it stand over night, strain, then use the cleared oil (warmed a bit) in the sore ear.

Let me tell you, I tried everything. Both of my ears were filled with pus and they drained. I thought I would never get my hearing back, but I did.

I seldom get sick, but I think a lot of it was from my fall and hurting my neck, preassure on the spinal cord and that is all in that area, I may never know for sure.

I try eating garlic and fresh fruits and vegetables and unprocessed foods. Eating all natural is the best for you no matter what.

Do you have dry skin?

Eat for the health of it.

We have all experienced the dry skin but what have we done about it? I would love to soak in a tub of water with oils and other nutrients everyday but I don't have the time. If you do, that's great.

If you can use a soft bristled brush and start with the feet and rub them in a circular motion and work up towards your heart. This will stimulate the sebaceous glands and will remove the dead skin.

We all have some habits that can contribute to the drying skin like, sunbathing, long baths, chlorinated water in swimming pools. It's natural aging process for our skin to dry as we get older unless we keep it moistened somehow.

You should eat plenty of fruit, seeds, fish and drink plenty of filtered water. City water has chlorine in it and you need to filter it out. Use some type of lotion or cream that has natural ingredients.

All natural is so important whether you are eating or smoothing it on your skin.

Do you experience dizziness?

Eat for the health of it.

Most people experience dizziness or vertigo, at sometime in their life. If this happens to you, you should call your doctor, especially if it lasts for any length of time or if you have chest pain, numbness and if your heart is beating faster than usual, you could be having a heart attack. And anytime if you suddenly lose your hearing after a dizzy spell. It could be something with your inner ear. There can be a number of other things wrong inside the ear which you want to have a doctor look at, don't be digging around in the ear yourself. I recently had a doctor clean mine out and I was surprised what they found in there, at least I can hear better.

These spells of dizziness or vertigo can come and go but they should be checked by a doctor in case it is your heart or other problems.

If you do have these periodically; Limit your use of salt and caffeine. Use ginger in any form like ginger tea, ginger candy and fresh ginger.

Try pressing your thumb into the pulse point on your wrist, some times this will help. Another thing I did when I had an attack like that was to hold my head with both hands, thumbs down under my ears and the rest of the fingers above the ears and act like I am lifting my head up and slowly turn my head to the left and then to the right, do this a few times, slowly. It worked for me.

Once you are diagnosed with diabetes, you have to make up your mind to keep it under control. You have to decide what you are going to eat ahead of time to make sure you have that kind of food in the house, that's if you are trying to control it.
My husband is diabetic and as much as I have tried to help him control his sugar, he eats whatever he wants to eat and sometimes he has some really bad spells. When he goes shopping with me I get surprised at what goes through the checkout and I ask myself, "How did that get in my cart?" He manages to slip that stuff in there and when we get home we have a stache of goodies he picked out. If I question him on it, he acts like a child and says, "because that's what I want." I don't cook special for him either because he won't eat it anyway.

But for you who would like to eat like hey should here are a few pointers:

If you must eat a banana; eat it a little on the green side or a bid under ripe. It's not so apt to spike your blood sugar. The Indians would chew on the leaf of an herb called, gymnema and it means "sugar destroyer" you can buy these in capsules at the health food store. Worth the try. If you like french fries, try a little vinegar on them like the British have eaten them, with a little apple cider vinegar, not that white stuff.

Fish oil is good for you. Be very careful of foods that contain High Fructose Corn Syrup, that stuff is so bad for you. I can't eat it and I am not diabetic but I am allergic to it. It's probably a good thing.

I want to encourage people to eat all natural because that's the only way it should be and these people putting these chemicals in our food should feel some guilt because that has a lot to do with our ailments.

Laughter is healthy: Funny sayings

1. Two blondes walked into a building...You would think that at least one of them would have seen it.
2.A man takes his Rotteweiller to the vet. "My dog is cross-eyed, is there anything you can do for him?"
The vet picks up the dog and says, "Let's take a look at him, he checks his eyes and then his teeth. Finally he says, "I'll have to put him down."
"What? Because he is cross eyed?"
"No, because he is really heavy."
I know they are dumb but I read em ,so can you.

Depression and mood swings

Eat for the health of it.

Everyone has had their day of moodiness. I know that there are people who are always laughing and saying funny things but I am sure if you followed them through their day and evening, they would have some time that they are sad or moody about something. I am sure this is mostly a normal thing.

I have days of the blahs when the sun doesn't shine or if it rains all day and you're stuck in the house. You should do something but you just don't feel like doing anything either, so you mope around all day; maybe curl up in a blanket on the couch. And then the next day the sun comes out and you feel all perky and you get all the work done you should have done the day before. I think that could be considered pretty normal even though you think to yourself that you should have done at least half of that work the day before.

On the other hand if you are an active person and all of a sudden you become withdrawn from your friends, clubs, card parties and you can let the house go and you don't even want to answer the phone, you need to see a doctor because you could have a brain chemical imbalance. You could have a low level of a chemical in your brain called serotonin.

And it could turn into a more serious mental disorder like bipolar depression. If not treated, bipolar depression can become a very serious and dangerous illness.

If you feel you are depressed, try the B vitamins, fish oil, like omega-3 and eat fish like salmon and tuna several times a week. I suggest talking to a person at the health food store to get the right amount of fish oil, unless you are on a blood thinner or aspirin, you shouldn't take fish oil, because it also thins your blood.

Tryptophan,an amino acid, that converts to serotonin in your body can help with depression. Tryptophan can be found in turkey, chicken, fish, dairy products, soybeans, nuts and avocados.

I was pretty depressed after I was seriously injued in an auto accident 25 years ago. I went through a lot of therapy and part of my therapy was swimming and I am still swimming. It's amazing how therapeutic that is, mentally and physically.

I have also talked to people that have had other injuries that swim and some take aerobics, and others get outside and rake leaves. It's amazing what little things that seem unimportant can be a cure for what ails you.

Anything to relax you and it also helps to eat as healthy as you can. By eating all natural, gives you the nourishment you need. The processed foods do not have this nourishment.

Laughter is Healthy:

Two elderly gentlemen from a retirement home were sitting on a bench under a tree when one turns to the other and says: Slim, I'm 83 years old and I am just full of pain, I know you're about my age, how do you feel?"

Slim answers,"I feel like a new born baby."

"Really! Like a new born baby?"

"Yep. No hair, no teeth, and I think I just wet my pants."

Skin cuts and open wounds

Eat for the health of it.

How many times do you cut or scrape yourself and wish you had something to help take away the pain or wish you new what you could put on it so you don't get an infection? Of course, if it's deep and oozing a lot of blood, go directly to the doctor or hospital. For simple scrapes try a little crushed cloves and sprinkle on the wound.

For other cuts and scrapes, run a stream of water on the wound and using a washcloth with a mild soap on it, lightly scrub the wound and try to get all the dirt or debri away from the cut, if you need to; let the water run on the cut for awhile and if there is embedded dirt that you cannot get out it is best to see your doctor.

If you are not sure if every bit of debri is not gone from the cut, take a sterile gauze and saturate it with some calendula extract (from the health food store) and place it on the cut for about hour to loosen debri, then put a drop or two of the extract on the wound.

Rosemary extract is also good to put on cuts and scrapes. Available at the health food store.

The leaves of the comfrey plant is also healing, but only use on shallow cuts.

Undiluted honey is also good on mild cuts. Honey is so good for you, especially the raw honey.

Always remember that if your sore doesn't start to heal or if you see a red streak going from it, get to the doctor or if the doctor isn't in then go to the hospital.

If you are having stomach problems or skin rashes, itching, hives or painful skin irritations under your arms or creases; you could be having an allergic reaction to the chemicals in food you are eating.

Eating all natural foods will keep you healthy and more able to fight infections. If you want to eat healthy please try my all natural cookbook:

A very good novel that I recommend is 'Under Obligation' by Trishianna Rose Roberts ISBN# 1-58736-601-0 Available at: www.wheatmark.com - Abebooks.com - Amazonbooks.com - This book is based on a true story, the names have been changed to protect the innocent. A must read.

Laughter is healthy:
Three women were on the golf course and were struck by lightning and they all died and went to heaven. When they entered the pearly gates they noticed these baby ducks all over the place. And they also saw the sign that said, DO NOT STEP ON DUCKS.
It wasn't long and the first lady steps on a duck and it dies. St Peter comes to the lady and for her punishment for killing the baby duck he chains the ugliest man to her.
The very next day the second woman steps on a baby duck and kills it. St. Peter comes along and he chains her to another ugly man.

The third woman was very careful and watched where she walked so she wouldn't have that happen to her. All of a sudden she sees St. Peter heading toward her with a handsome young man and he chains the man to her. The woman turns to the guy and asks,"What have I done to deserve this?"
The guy answers, "I don't know about you, but I just stepped on a duck."

Your feet needs attention

Eat for the health of it.

Do you have trouble with corns and calluses? Remember those pointy toed shoes that we would squeeze our feet into? It's no wonder we had sores, corns and bunions. Although I used to get those corns and sore spots when wearing those silly shoes, for some reason they dissapeared over the years. I have learned to like a more comfortable shoe. If you have calluses or corns, take an emery board to them, but just a little at a time, after all they didn't get there over night and to rub them too much could make a sore.

You can put the juice of an aloe plant on your feet, or use a mixture of one half apple cider vinegar and listerine and what I did was soaked a gauze and taped it on the spot over night or at least a few hours. This will help if you have itchy toes or cracked toes also. Another remedy that works for me is using Vicks; I rub my feet with it and put on socks for awhile and even over night. It works for me. Don't ever cut a callus or corn, go see a doctor if you have too much trouble with them.

Get comfortable well fitting shoes and eat a good healthy diet.

I am also plugging a very good novel, 'Under Obligation' by Trishianna Rose Roberts ISBN#1-58736-601-0 Available at: www.wheatmark.com at: Amazonbooks.com and at: Abebooks.com It is a true story, the names have been changed to protect the innocent.

If you have skin problems or stomach problems maybe you are eating a lot of chemicals in your food and you are having an allergic reaction. If you have been eating these foods for some time and are just starting to have a reaction it can still be an allergic reaction because it sometimes takes awhile to build up in your system.

Laughter is healthy:

As this young lady was about to board a plane in Ireland, she noticed a priest was in line to board the same plane. She stepped a bit closer to him and said,"Father, may I ask a favor of you?"

"Of course my child, what may I do for you?"

"Well. I bought this expensive hair dryer for my mother's birthday that is unopened and well over the Customs limit, and I am afraid that they may confiscate it. Is there any way you can carry it through customs for me? Perhaps under your robe?"

"I will try to help you but I have to warn you that I will not lie."

"With your honest face, Father, no one will question you." When they got to Customs, she let the priest go ahead of her.

The official asked, "Father, do you have anything to declare?"

"From my head down to my waist, I have nothing to declare."

The official thought this to be a bit strange so he again asked," And what do you have to declare from your waist to the floor?"

He answered, "I have a marvelous instrument designed to be used on a woman, but which is, to date, unused."

Roaring with laughter, the official said, "Go ahead, Father. Next!"

Have you ever been constipated?

Eat for the health of it.

I think most everyone has been constipated some time in their life. Maybe not exactly constipated but if you can't move those bowels real easy and add a couple of hemrrhoids and maybe a fissure to the problem, that's painful, and all you want is to get that crap out of there as easy and quickly as possible.

I recently had surgery on my neck and I didn't realize that pain pills could bind you up and I was taking 8 oxicodone in 24 hours and let me tell you I experienced constipation. That was more painful than the surgery was. I decided that I would cut the meds and if I had pain I would take only what I needed. I couldn't believe it that I only had to take one pain pill a day.

I tried hot and cold compresses. Place a towel on your skin. Alternate, using a hot pack for three minutes and then a cold pack for 30 seconds. Repeat this three times.

Try getting more exercise. Eat slower. Drink plenty of water. Eat oatmeal. Try drinking prune juice or eat the prunes. Try dandelion tea. My mother used to fix us strawberries and rhubarb with a little water and honey. Cooked.

Another very old remedy but worth the try is; the very next time you cook potatoes, save the potato water and in the morning take 2 tablespoons of the potato water and 2tablespoons of honey in a cup of hot water and drink before your breakfast.

At last resort, take an enema.

Eating all natural helps a lot too but when you have to take medication or eat too much of certain food without the water, you can still get bound up.

My all natural cookbook: GRANDMA'S BACK TO BASICS ALL NATURAL MORE THAN JUST A COOKBOOK by Teresa Thompson ISBN# 0-8059-6286-7 has very good recipes in it and they are easy.

Then he walked into his office a bit puzzled but as he passed the mirror on the wall he noticed his zipper was open. He then understood what the secrettary meant.
He decided to get a cup of coffee and stopped at her desk and asked,"When my garage door was open, did you happen to see my hummer parked in there?"
She answered, "No, I didn't but there was a volkswagon with two flat tires."

What you can do with a cold?

Eat for the health of it.

Cold remedies over the counter can be loaded with sugar which can send your sugar sky high if you are diabetic. Try zink, vitamin C and drink lots of water and orange juice. Another thing you can try is Black Elderberry. Take 40 drops of the extract every 4 hours at the first sign of the flu or a cold. And don't forget the best medicine past on down to all of us; good homemade chicken soup. If you don't have time to make the soup, try a cup of tea and add a little ginger to it. I also take echinacea with the zink, if I feel a cold coming on. You can take hoseradish extract three times a day too. And try sipping some licorice tea.

The guy said, "I would really like to know how a woman thinks; what makes her tick?
The genie thought for a few minutes and asked, "How many lanes do you want on that road?"

CFS or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Eat for the health of it.

Have you ever felt so tired that all you want to do is flop on the couch and sleep until tomorrow? I know how that feels. I had that and they called it Mono nucleosis, "kissing disease", "Yuppie flu" but there is another name for being all tired out and that is chronic fatigue syndrome or (CFS). You haven't got enough energy to keep going during the day let alone going out at night. You hurt all over.

You can try herbs like rosemary, or try spinach and other greens, apples, try some B vitamins, meat and fish, nuts, wheat germ and yogurt. Also you may want to try some broccoli and other vitamin-C rich vegetables.

The best way to stay healthy and free from illnesses is to eat all natural foods. If you want to learn how to do that, please try my all natural cookbook GRANDMA'S BACK TO BASICS ALL NATURAL MORE THAN JUST A COOKBOOK ISBN#0-8059-6286-7 Available at: www.dorrancepublishing.com or call 1-800-788-7654 or at Amazonbooks.com

Carpal tunnel

Eat for the health of it.

If you happen to be one of the many people who have had carpal tunnel syndrome, then I don't have to tell you how painful and misserable it can be. You can try treating it by wearing guards on your hands at night but usually you will end up having surgery on them, where they go in and snip the nerve in your hand. To avoid having surgery you can try different things if you are using the computer a lot. Always rest them now and then while you are typing, also massage the hands together and try stretching your fingers out occasionally as you are typing.

You can try using omega 3 oil capsuls. Try using a little flaxseed oil on your salads, or soak a cloth with caster bean oil, heat it in the microwave and place it on your wrists and keep it there several hours with a wrap.

Another thing that can cause prickling and pain in your hands is if you have a pinched nerve or a bulging disk that could be pressing on the spinal cord in your neck. I just had this happen to me recently. I went to 2 different doctors that told me I had CTS and I told them I had surgery and they said it can return, but one thing I noticed was that, with my problem, it went away at night where as when I had CTS I remembered that it would wake me up at night with severe pain.

I also had trouble walking but the first two doctors blamed that on an ear infection that I had at that time also.

I finally went to the third doctor before I got one to listen to me that I did not have CTS and after MRI's etc. they finally found the disks were bulging and pressing on the spinal cord and I had surgery but I still have some pain in my hands which is slowly going away. My walking has also improved a lot.

Another thing that will help is eating salads, take lettuce and top with hard boiled eggs for vitmin A, red peppers for vitamin C, sliced almonds for vitamin E and then drizzle with a Tablespoon of Flaxseed oil and some apple cider vinegar and sweeten with some Stevia(an all natural sweetener).

Try my all natural cookbook. If you can get away from eating those terrible chemicals that they put in our food, you will notice a difference in how you feel. An old prospector rides his mule into town and ties it to the rail outside the saloon. As he heads for the saloon a young gunslinger asked the old man, "Hey old man can you dance?"

"No sir."

"Well fella, your gonna learn right now," At that he began to fire several shots at the old man as he jumped and danced to escape the bullets. As the last bullet was fired, the gunslinger turned and headed for the saloon.

The old man reached for his double barreled shotgun from the pack of his mule nearby. He cocked the gun and yelled at the young gunslinger.

People stared as the gunslinger looked down the twin barrels of the old prospectors gun. The old man asked the young gunslinger, "Son, have you ever kissed a mules Butt?"

The gunslinger answered,"No, but I always wanted to."

Blood preasure

Eat for the health of it.

High blood preasure seems to be the hot topic amoung us these days, but I don't feel that everyone that is on high blood preasure medicine really needs it. When I get up in the AM, I sit for awhile and then I take my blood preassure and it ranges from 118/63/58 129/70/68 I do not believe that I have high BP but when I go to the doctor he always says it's high and he insisted that I take this medicine. I explained that I have white coat syndrome and when I go to the doctor my BP is up. Well I took a half of one and after a few days I felt terrible but at the time I was headed elsewhere and I didn't have my cuff but had I, I would bet that it had dropped. Now I am keeping track of it and I quit taking the pills and i feel fine again.

I guess what I really was going to write about was the Kuna Indian Islanders, they drink hot cocoa and they eat salt and their BP is 110/70 which to me is low but they are healthy people. They have less deaths from heart attacks, strokes, diabetes and cancer. These people live on an Island and I'll bet anything that they do not use a lot of chemicals in their food either.

They claim to drink 5 cups of hot cocoa a day. Now I am sure this is 100% cocoa without any additives and if they sweeten it they probably use a natural sweetener like Stevia that probably grows wild there. I am sure it is an unprocessed cocoa too.

Painful canker sores

Eat for the health of it.

I am sure you have had a canker sore or two. They can be painful and who knows what is best to put on them? I have tried some of the salves on the market but it still takes awhile to get rid of them. I haven't tried this yet but the next time I get one I am going to have some licorice jell on had to fight it. You can buy it at the health food store and apply it several times a day as soon as you start to feel that tingling or burning sensation.

A cold sore is simular with a tingling sensation, itching and burning near the lip. At the first sign of a cold sore, make yourself a cup of tea, then take the tea bag and squeeze it out a bit and let it cool so you don't burn your skin and place it on the area. Drink the tea while you are holding the tea bag on your sore area. Tea is good for you.

Other things to try are: baking soda water, Myrrh capsul opened and use the powder on the sore. Dab on some milk of magnesia, echinacea, vitamin E oil or zinc ointment.

Try staying away from processed foods and eat as much all natural as you can.

"I was in prison."
"Why would they put you in prison?"
