chemicals, risks and source

Eat for the health of it.

The worst toxins are:

PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls)This industrial chemical has been in the US for decades, yet is a persistant pollutant in our environment. I am very allergic to Chlorine, no matter where it comes from.

Risks are: cancer, and impaired fetal brain developement.)
Major source: Most farm raised salmon, accounts for most of the supply in the United States and are fed ground up fish that have absorbed PCBs in the environment and should be avoided.

Pesticides: According to the EPA a large percentage of herbicides and fungicides; known to be carcinogenic and yet alarmingly these pesticides are used on 50% to 95% of U.S. foods.

Risks: Cancer, Parkinson's disease, miscarriage, nerve damage, birth defects, and blocks absorbtion of food nutrients.

Major sources: Food (fruits, vegetables and commercial meats), bug sprays.

Mold and fungal toxins: One in three people have had a reaction to mold. Mycotoxins (fungal toxins)can cause a range of problems with exposure to even the slightest amount of exposure.

Phthalates: These chemicals are used to lengthen the life of soft plastic.

Risks:Endocrine system damage. Especially dangerous to children.

Major Source: Plastic wrap, plastic bottles; plastic food storage containers. All of the leak phthalates into your food.

VOCs Volatile Organic Compounds)

Risks: Cancer, eye and respiratory tract irritation, headaches, dizziness, visual disorders, and memory impairment.

Major Source:Dioxins: Drinking water, carpeting, paints, deodorants, varnish, cosmetics, dry cleaned clothes, moth repellant and air fresheners.

Dioxins: Chemical compounds formed as a result of combustion, such as municipal waste incineration and from burning coal and oil.

Risks: Cancer, reproductive and developemental disorders, ( a severe skin disease with acne-like lesions)Skin rashes, skin discoloration, excessive body hair, and mild liver damage.

Major Source: Over 95% of exposure comes from animal fats.

Asbestos: This insolating material was widely used from the 1950s. Problems arise when the material becomes old and crumbly and released in the air.

Risks: Cancer, scarring of the lung tissue, mesothelioma (a form of cancer.)

Major Sources: Insulation on floors, ceilings, water pipes and ducts from the 1950s to the 1970s.

Heavy Metals: Metals like arsenic, mercury, lead, aluminum, which are prevalent
in many areas of our environment and can accumilate in the tissues of our body.

Risks: Cancer, neurological disorders,Alzheimers disease, fatigue, nausea and vomiting, abnormal heart rhythm.

Major Sources: Drinking water, fish, vaccines, pesticides antipersperents and building materials.

Chloroform: Colorless liquid has a pleasant smell, sweet taste and is used to make other chemicals.

Risks: Cancer, reproductive damage, birth defects, dizziness, fatigue, headache, liver and kidney damage.

Major source: Air, drinking water and food.

Chlorine: This highly toxic , yellow green gas is one of the most horrible chemical agents.

Risks: Sore throat, coughing, eye and skin irritation, rapid narrowing of the bronchi, wheezing, blue coloring of the skin, accumulation of fluid in the lungs, pain in the lungs, lung collaps, reactive airways dysfunction, (RADS), (a type of asthma)

Major Source: Household cleaners, drinking water, air when living near an industry, like a paper mill.

Author: Trishianna Rose Roberts: This novel will keep you interested to the very end of the story.

Laughter is healthy:

This couple had three little children and of course they loved them dearly. They also had a cat that the children loved and the middle child (Eli) was very fond of his mothers chapstick and would beg to use it but when it came time to use it herself she could never find it, She would ask Eli for it back but the little guy would say,"It's all gone."

One day as they were rushing around to go to church they looked around for Eli, and they found him in the bathroom with the cat, applying the chapstick to the cats rear end. Eli looked at his mom and said,"CHAPPED!!"

Unable to respond, the mother just stood and wondered, how many times did this happen?

You can't help but laugh at that. I will be out of town for the next couple days so I will not have a blog.
