vitamin D and healthy bones

Eat for the health of it.

Are you one of those that slathers the sunscreen on everytime you go outside in the sunshine? Did you ever think you could be causing more harm than good? I am not saying you shouldn't use sunscreen but I would use it sparingly. I know it is supposed to protect you but there is evidence for just the opposite; that sunshine is partially to blame for skin cancer.

It is believed that sunscreens blocks the skin from producing the pigment melanin, which prevents your body from it's natural defense against the sunlight which is, A TAN. A nice tan is healthy for you. Sunscreen also blocks one of the most important vitamins; vitamin D, that is essential to our system, keeping our bones from breaking. We have an epidemic of vitamin D deficient diseases.

You have been told not to lie in the sun; stay indoors during the heat of the day. Slather up with sunscreen, wear long sleeves and sunglasses. If this is true then why is there evidence that the sunlight actually prevents 17 different kinds of cancer. God gave us a natural healer.

Now that people are afraid to go in the sun, they are vitamin D deficient, causing bone loss, and how many people do you know that never go out in the sunshine and yet they have skin cancer? I know people that are very depressed when the sun doesn't shine and I would guess that most people have some depression on gloomy days. I love to be outside and mostly on sunny days.

You need vitamin D, you get it from the sun, pay attention on the next gloomy day, see how you feel, then see how you feel on a sunny day. Most people are paranoid from all the commercials about staying out of the sun. Do you know that skin cancer was very rare before the 1930's and most people back then worked outside?

If you give it a thought, the sun is five billion years old and why all of a sudden it is causing skin cancer? Why is it that people that live in the cold, damp climate areas, with little sunshine, like Minnesota and London, have a higher death rate from skin cancer then the sunshine states like Florida, New Mexico and Arizona?
