Cooking at home-fast food style

Eat for the health of it.

I used to raise chickens and in some ways I wish I still did. There is nothing like a home grown chicken and the only way to find that out is to do it. After I quit raising them, it was hard for me to find a chicken that tasted good.

I was so happy when they came up with the all natural and the Amish free range chickens. They are the closest to home grown. Cooking them is another home experience. I do not like the chicken with all that crust on them because you get a lot of calories you don't need. It depends on what kind of diet you are on, so if you are on a low fat diet, I am afraid that you will have to skin that chicken and bake it in the oven, steam it or make soup out of it and skim all the fat off of the soup broth. If you are on the low carb diet then you can fry that chicken in some butter and don't forget how good that coconut oil is; you can fry it in that too. You can make soup but, no noodles.

Remember to read the chicken labels to see if the chicken has been injected with salt water or a saline or broth. This is done to make the chicken look plump. It is best to avoid this process.I always look for the "all natural" or the "organic" or the "free range" or the "hormone free". Always inspect the package for leaks, coolness, signs of spoilage (like dark, unnatural look or a lot of dark liquid in the package. Always check the expiration date. Remember to wash your hands with soapy water after handling the chicken, before handling other foods.

Check internal doneness with a meat thermometer. Internal temperature of chicken should be 165 degrees. You can serve chicken in many ways, cook it, fry it, saute' it, barbeque it, roast it in the oven. Serve it cajun style, tangy Indian, Asian, or cook it and make a soup, oven bake it or fry it in butter or stir fry it. You can serve it on a salad, or make a sandwich spread. Chicken is quite universal and if you have it thawed and ready to cook, it can really be sort of a fast food meal.

Laughter is healthy:

A man and woman were assigned to the same sleeping room on a transcontinental train. Though initially embarassed and uneasy over the situation, they were both tired and fell asleep right away. He was in the upper bunk and she slept in the lower.
At 1:00 AM, the man leaned over and gently woke the woman up saying, "Ma'am, I'm sorry to bother you, but would you be willing to reach into the closet to get me a second blanket? I'm awfully cold."
"I have a better idea," she replied."Just for tonight, let's pretend we are married."
"Wow! That's a great idea!" he exclaimed.
"Good," she replied. "Get your own <^*&+> blanket."
